Today’s world is extremely competitive for businesses in every industry. It can feel like an impossible task trying to make your business stand out in a crowd. The good news is that there are certain strategies you can implement in order to get the attention and respect your business needs in order to thrive. If you have ever worked with an advertising firm, you know that positioning is the way in which they present you to potential customers. Several different positioning strategies are commonly deployed.
Unique Selling Proposition (USP)
Unique selling proposition (USP) is all about positioning the services or products your business offers as the best customers can get for their money. But you have to have at least one unique aspect of those provided services or products that will catch the public’s attention. One famous example of this is McDonalds. The company has long used their family-friendly atmosphere to attract customers, and it has worked exceptionally well.
Positioning Statement
Very closely related to the USP is positioning statement. which tells consumers why your goods or services are the absolute best they are going to get. It is a statement that can and should be conveyed in a single paragraph. The paragraph must address the wants, needs, and goals of the demographics your business is targeting. It also has to explain your category of goods and services and why consumers need to purchase them. You need to include an exclamation as to how what you are offering is different than what your competitors are offering.
Your positioning statement should be based on things such as the characteristics of the goods or services you sell. One example of this is Toyota marketing themselves as offering flexible products that meet the needs of many. But it should also be based on the prices of your goods and services, which must be competitive in order for you to beat the competition.
Last but not least, a positioning statement should include a special emphasis on the quality of your goods and services or the luxuries they provide your customers with.
